Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28th, 1952) is an American stage actress and film actor. She has received the Academy Award nod for the part she played as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character McDonnell is known as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) and the spouse of the president on Independence Day as well as her leading role as Donnie Darko's mother.
