American actress Allison Brooks Janney was born November 19th, 1959. Her work on the screen as well as the stage have garnered praise throughout her entire three-decade career. Janney has been honored with numerous prizes, including The Academy Award and British Academy Film Award. Seven Primetime Emmy Awards were also given to her. Two Tony Awards were nominated. Janney was raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was born and was raised in Boston. She received a scholarship to take classes at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after she graduated from Kenyon College. Janney's debut on TV came in 1999, when she played C. J. Cregg in the NBC's drama The West Wing (from 1999 from 1999 to). She was awarded 4 Primetime Emmy Awards for the role. Janney was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest Actress in the Drama Series, after her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime show Masters of Sex. Janney was awarded two Outstanding Supporting Actress Awards for Comedy series and was nominated 6 times by Primetime Emmy Awards.
